Smithtown High School West InvenTeam Interviewed on WABC
The 2020 Smithtown High School West InvenTeam tells WABC about their plans to develop the "Personal Distance Monitor" to help children with autism manage their personal space.
Kristin Thorne of WABC interviews students on the Smithtown High School West InvenTeam on Long Island, New York. The students are working on a device to aid kids with autism when socially interacting. Children with autism often have trouble understanding personal space and maintaining proper physical distance from others. The InvenTeam's system consists of a mobile application and sensor that they reconfigured to take into consideration the six feet needed for social distancing due to COVID-19.
